My Background

Personal life

A work life balance is incredibly important and should always be something we work on as individuals. Outside of work hours, I thoroughly enjoy working out, spending time with my family, collecting various trading cards and working on certificates so I always feel up to date on new concepts which helps me feel better in the workplace as well.

Working out and spending time with my family has become a huge priority to me. Building a tight bond and great memories with family has always been something I held nearly to me, life is short so it's important to spend it with the people who matter the most. Although, it's still very important to live a healthy and long life which is why I workout at least 4-5 times every week (sometimes 3 times if I'm being honest). These two go hand-in-hand with each other, I keep myself healthy in order to live the best possible life with the people that matter to me the most!

Since I was a kid, collecting trading cards has always been a hobby of mine. Sometimes when life is flying by we forget to enjoy the things that made us feel the happiest, to me this is collecting trading cards. Keeping this hobby of mine alive has allowed me to look forward to something exciting every day. It brings back fond memories of my siblings and I who used to collect with me as a kid. I continue to be an avid collector to this day and cannot wait to continue expanding!

As someone who believes that confidence comes from how well you prepare yourself, it's very important to continue learing even outside of work; you can never learn too much! To keep myself confident at work when dealing with new projects, I take the time to learn concepts just for the sake of learning them! This allows me to be significantly more efficient in the workplace as I less often have to learn new concepts on the spot. The sharper your skills the more confident you are!

Why I Chose Tech

The forever developing industry of tech caught my eye in early 2017. As a highschool student I wasn't sure what I wanted to do in university. After some short research I knew instantly that it just had to be computer science! The incredible concepts, vast options of careers, and how heavily the future will rely on it, all caught my eye!

Conceptually, the tech industry is mind blowing, there is something for everyone! Many of which are still evolving to this day, which makes the industry all the better. You never stop learning, and the more you learn the more you're able to connect other new concepts to what you already know! This instantly caught my attention as I knew I wouldn't just be stuck doing the same tasks every day, there would always be something new.

The broad career choice was comforting to me as a high school student who still wasn't too sure exactly what he wanted to do in tech. This allowed me to feel comfortable pursuing a degree in computer science, even though I still wasn't sure which sector I wanted to focus on; needless to say I found it after a few years of studying! The vast career options make it welcoming to anybody who is willing to put in the work to understand necessary concepts, and if you already have a background in certain areas, it will be even easier.

Where my job takes me in after few years was always important to me, knowing how reliant we are, and will continue to be, on technology I knew this was a safe space. I wanted my career to matter, I wanted my work to matter, I knew that if we become even more reliant on tech as time goes on, my work will be necessary and so will my career. This creates a great sense of purpose, which I believe is incredibly important especially when its a job you're doing every day.

Coding History

I began devoting my all my time to computer science in 2018 when I began my Honours BSc at Wilfrid Laurier University. At the start I was introduced to Python, although it was very simple at first, I became obssesed with data structures during my first year (2018). As the semesters progressed I began learning new languages and concepts, including but not limited to: Data structures, C/C++, Java/OOP, encryption/decryption methods in cyber security, artificial intelligence models and parallel programming.

Eventually, I chose to specialize in AI models and cyber security as I found these the most difficult so I took them on to challenge myself in order to enhance my technical abilities. With 2 years of my specialization, I can comfortably say that it did enhance my skills greatly and provided a deeper understanding of many difficult security and AI concepts. With AI, I managed to develop a program that was able to predict the winner of the 2022/2023 F1 Championship races wtih an accuracy of 88%. In security, I toyed around with many encryption/decrption concepts, including but not limited to: asymmetric encryption, RSA, hashing, DES and ElGamal. After completing my security courses, I believe it is essential for anyone in tech to at least have some understanding of the security aspect of technology. With the industry developing so quickly it can be easy to fall for vulnerabilities, having an understanding of these will protect not only yourself but your work!

Fast forward to present day, I am searching for a company in which I can provide my sharp skills to, and at the same time, gain a better understanding of all concepts at hand.
